Hair Maintenance
  • Let's talk "Moisture" moisture is the main key to keeping our hair from breaking off.......we must moisturize our ends every single night or every other day so that are ends stay well moisturized, you then need to seal with an oil to lock the moisture in, I love extra virgin coconut oil it is known to prevent breakage, this is the key to maintaining healthy long hair
  • How you handle your hair has a great effect on retaining the length that you have......low manipulation is important because you don't want your hair to break off or cause any unnecessary knots and tangles so treat your hair like fine lace...........
  • Always use a wide tooth comb and start from the bottom on up to detangle your hair and use a detangling spray if needed
  • Detangle your hair with lots of conditioner( instead of shampoo) under running water
  • wear as many protective styles as possible such as buns, braidouts, bantu knots, twistouts, weaves & wigs
Do's & Dont's
  • Do use a heat protectant when using heat
  • Do use your wide tooth comb always
  • Do wear a satin or silk scarf for bed
  • Don't comb your hair from the roots to the tips but from the tips to the roots
  • Don't relax your hair too often maybe, wait 10+ weeks
  • Don't detangle your hair with shampoo in it because most shampoos have a stripping effect which leaves the hair stripped of it's moisture
  • Don't trim your hair too much but trim when needed
  • Do saturate your hair with conditioner when going swimming or use swimming shampoo before you go in the pool
  • Don't use hair grease it clogs up the pores and doesn't allow the hair to grow at it's fullest potential
  • Do oil your scalp with oil such as extra virgin coconut or olive oil
  • Don't use excessive amount of heat, try to air dry your hair as often as possible and try doing roller sets to achieve a straight look

Hair Problems

  1. I notice my hair is dry and brittle what should I do? Try to deep condition your hair for a longer period of time like 1 to 2 hrs, air dry instead of blow drying add lots of moisture to the ends and seal with an oil you can also do a hot oil treatment
  2. My hair is shedding like crazy why is that and what can I do to stop it? Well, shedding is a normal things because our hair goes though a resting stage when the hair stops growing and then it goes into the exogen stage which allows old weaken hair to fall out and new stronger hair begins to grow, shedding can also be cause by stress, aging lack of hair care.......you can try black tea rinses, garlic pills or galic shampoo by queen helene
  3. My hair is breaking off what should I do? if your in the middle of transitioning from relaxed to natural this is common for most people because the line of demarcation where the new growth meets the relaxed hair can be very delicate and if combed improperly you can be causing the breakage so for anyone seeing breakage try not to comb your hair roughly and add plenty of oil to your hair.....one that will strengthen the hair like coconut oil or profective mega growth oil
  4. What is protein overload/sensitive and what should I do to prevent it? Our hair is made up of protein , so some people maybe protein sensitive so you may not want to use any protein or try light protein products, if your not protein sensitive then you may want to balance between protein and Moisture based products so you won't have protein overload and that can cause your hair to break off
  5. How come my hair is still the same length after so many yrs of growth? the major key to growing out your hair is to retain the length that you already have....meaning you have to make sure your hair isn't breaking at the ends because everyone's hair grows so add plenty of moisture to the ends and wear your hair in protective styles that you can take down and moisturize everyday and never cut your ends just cause;
  6. How often should I trim my ends? Only trim your ends when needed not because you think it will make your hair grow.
  7. How much on average do hair grow per year? on average your hair will grow 6 inches per year maybe more

  9. Hey Ms. Love I have to say that your hair is growing because your getting your routine relaxers to relax down the new growth, your ends may be breaking off be sure to keep them well moisturized and to keep your ends up in a protective style. The best way for our hair t grow is just to leave it alone. I personally loved the potion better (can be ordered at hairdrenalin.com than JBCO but you know everything works differently for different people and you have to stay on your regimen keep ends trimmed when needed and stay consistent with the oil. I hope this helps.

  11. you can wear your hair in many different buns to keep your ends tucked up and out the way. Try to use ponytail holders that are not rubbers and that do not have that metal part because that can rip out your hair. I hope this helps I'm here for you anytime I want us all to have healthy long beautiful hair
